I replaced the battery of my mid-2010 MacBook Pro 15". It takes ages to charge, "20:00 until full". System Information shows a charge rate of 288mA.
I once got it to charge at a better rate, by draining the battery completely until the system shut off and then charging. Charge rate was around 5000mA, after this charge cycle, it's back to the old slow charging.
I already tried NVRAM and SMC resets, but those don't help.
Any ideas?

Hi Sander,
Sounds as though you got a defective battery.
I take it the reason you replaced the battery was because it didn't hold a charge anymore?
Try repairing your disk permissions first, then performing a SMC reset. See what that does.

I already tried the SMC reset. I can't imagine that repairing disk permissions can fix it, but I'll try it anyways.
You're indeed right that the reason to replace the batter was because the old one didn't hold any charge. The strange thing is that I have seen the new one at 5000mA
Is the battery from us?
It wasn't your battery, but from a different company. It *looks* original. It was the second battery I received from that company, the first didn't do anything at all. I'm contemplating sending the second one back too. I would order a battery here if they weren't out of stock :/
Ours are very high quality so of course the demand is very high as well.
I have one more question about this; how do I know that the charging at 250-290mA is due to a bad battery, and not the charging circuit?

I have the same issue on my MacBook Pro early 2011.
I change the dead battery with another apple's original one, after some cycles the charge is very very slow, something like 12,40 hours to full charge.
I try all the possible resets, in Apple Store the Genius try to change the battery with another one and the mag safe connector and the last answer was "you must change the logical board". I can't repeat what I told him...
Are there any other possible solutions?

The charging circuit on the logic board is damaged. I replaced my logic board... win win... The one I changed to had better cpu and more ram.
thanks mike for your response. but I wonder if would be a possible software solution without replacing the logical board, I mean, some re install or anything I can do. thanks
