I shorted out the USB port. Can it be fixed?

Ever since I plugged a powered USB device into the USB hub that is part of the monitor, whenever I plug the USB cable from the monitor to a computer, it give me the error message:

"Because USB device was drawing too much power from your computer, one or more of your USB devices have been disabled."

And the USB port on the computer stops working.

My guess is that there is a short in the montior.

I think your guess is correct. There is no DIY repair of USB ports on logic boards possible. A pro might take that on, (they have the special tools & skills required). Otherwise as a work around run a USB cable from the computer to a USB self Powered Hub (you should have power available at the monitor) connect to that hub.
