I am looking for a sreen for a MacBook Pro1. Model # A1175. It seems that Apple has duplicated this number so that it is dificult to come up with parts for this device. I believe the order #'s for this MacBook Pro are MA600LL and MA601LL. It is a 15" model with a glossy screen. I trust this is enough info and hope someone can help.

There is no A1175. The guide I put up is for the MA600LL, a Core Duo 2.0 GHz processor. The MA601LL is the 2.16 GHz processor. For your exact machine please give us the last three figures of your serial number. Three different manufactures produced the screens for this machine. To get the correct one please give us the numbers on the back of the screen. Also, just for grins, why do you believe the screen needs to be replaced?

Thanks for the reply. The screen needs replacing because it looks like someone sat on it and when it is turned on it has 5 big black blotches and to on side I can faintly see some icons. Of course you are right there is no A1175. As I have been informed, that is the battery. I hadn't seen the device until today so was working from what I was told. The serial Number is W883006Z1XR. How do I get to the numbers on the back of the screen? I appreciate your help.

rfjackson, sorry to butt in. Don't mean to interfere with mayer on this question. he is definitely a Mac expert, I am just a hardware person :-) don't know much about Mac's. Anyhow. does this description fit your MBP?

Oh, and to get to the number on the back of your LCD panel, you will have to disassemble it or you could try this " You can see what your LCD manufacturer is by doing the following:
Launch the Terminal (/Applications/Utilities/)
Copy and paste the following command onto a single line and hit return:
ioreg -lw0 | grep IODisplayEDID | sed "/[^<]*</s///" | xxd -p -r | strings -6
Post the output and we might identify which panel you have. Good Luck
