Will not work in Bose Portable Sound Dock System

Classic charges, downloads, plays and everthing is normal.

However, it does not work when I plug it in to the Bose

Portable Sound Dock System. Can I replace just the part that fits/plugs into the Bose? and if so where??

Thanks for any help/suggestions.

Bob

Thanks everyone, for the help/suggestions but this is unusual. Sent it back to Bose three times. They even sent me a brand new Sound Dock. Was than sent to a Bose store, tried my ipod in three different units did not work. Plugged another ipod into my unit, and it worked fine.

The confusing part is my ipod worked in a friends identical system and an older plug in unit. But does not work in mine. Have not tried the auxiliary plug as was suggested, will try tonight..

The whole thing is just weird.

I seem to remember that Bose changed the connector to accomodate the newer iPod's, the pinout was different. If your iPod works in your friends older unit, I am certain it is not your iPod.

Robert, the part that plugs into the Bose Portable Sound Dock System is called the dock connector. It is possible, yet very difficult to change. It is also very tough to find the part. It is solder onto the motherboard. It requires a very small soldering iron and some good soldering skill. If your iPod charges and is being recognized by your computer when you plug it in, it is most likely not your iPod that has issues. It is very easily possible that is it your sound dock that has problems, which is not uncommon. Take a audio cable that has 3.5mm audio jack male ends on both ends, plug it into your iPods headphone jack and the other end into the Bose Audio in. See if that works. Hope this helps, good luck.

Changing the part were the Plugs go in is possible.

U could look onto the Guides section. "or Google is your BestFriend ;-) "

I had the same problem - my old dock died, i sent it back and they said they couldn't fix it but were giving me a new portable SoundDeck. I got it, tried to play two of my classic I-Pods and they wouldn't charge. Called - they tried everything and then said they would send another one. The next one came and i had the same problem. Finally, on a hunch, i googled to see if anyone else was having problems with their classic I-Pods and found this thread. I tried my I-Phone which i usually don't use for music and it worked perfectly. What really frosted me about Bose is that they denied it was their problem and tried to blame Apple. Send your I-Pod to Apple and get it fixed. Finally i cornered one guy and said that the problem is that the new SoundDocks won't work with the classic I-Pods and he got irritated but finally agreed that the old I-Pods were called "Classic" for a reason. If they would just admit it!!!!!!!!!!! So - my workaround - i bought a Wave connect kit - IPOD DOCK KIT(EA)BRAND SOURCE ONLY 315527-0010 - used on Amazon for $60. Now it works!!!!!!!!!! Small price to pay but i wish Bose would be more honest about the problem.
