Getting info off drive via network

Hi. Are there cables that I can get, allowing me to plug a Macbook Pro HD into a system allowing me to TRY to get infor off of it, and onto a backup drive?

I've tried starting from the DVD … Doesn't work:(

I've tried zapping Pram so it might start from DVD, and I can't even zap the Pram, it just doesn't do it. Should I consider replacing the battery to see if that helps? I'd rather not purchase a bunch of stuff in hopes to get it to work, unless of course it's not to expensive.

It spins and spins, but nothing else.

Safe mode … doesn't work

It just didn't start up one day.

***Are there cables I can purchase that will allow me to plug the Laptop drive into a something that I can plug into a desktop unit and try to get the info off of it.

What would be great is if there is a way to plug the Laptop drive into my G4 or G5 desktop units and see if I can see the drive to get the information off of it.

Apple Macbook Pro 15" A1226

The DVD just spins and or does nothing. The screen doesn't change, and no matter what DVD I put in, it doesn't read it.

Yes, and holding the D key down did nothing.

If you are trying to read a MacBook drive from a WinDUHows machine - can't be done, unless you run OS X under emulation. WinDUHows uses DOS formatted disks, Mac uses GUID formatted disks... it's like trying to read/write a secret message without the chemicals/means to "expose" the message.

That being said you should be able to run your MacBook in Target Mode energizing the ports and disk only (not boot the machine) -hold down the T key while booting. Using either a USB, Firewire or Thunderbolt cable (depending upon age of MacBook) a second Mac of any type should be able to connect and "see" the HD to copy files. You can burn the files to a disk, or using the second Mac as a bridge transfer them to an external drive, or computer.

When I hold down the "T" key, I do get the symbol that appears to have the drive and ports available, but when I plug in a cable and plug into my other Mac, nothing shows up?

pull the drive and put it in an external case.

I did this, but no luck:(

I can see the drive with Disk Utilities, but it won't mount it, it says there maybe some files missing. Heck, I'd like to be able to install the OS on it, but nothing allows me to do that, without erasing the drive.

And I was hoping to put the OS on it, then see what it has on it for files, that I could backup.

Right you could contact the vendor if its a new drive... if it's older or used it could be a Deathstar ( aka/fka Hitachi Travelstar).

Did you encrypt your drive? If you did that could explain why it won't mount.
