White screen of death on iPod, no visible damage to logic board

Hi all

I've dealt with a lot of iPod touches before, and this is a problem I've ran into a couple times. A white screen of death - can't get out of it by restoring or button combinations. I have tried different LCDs, but it's a no go. I don't see any damage to the logic board. (do you? see pic) What else could it be? Once when I was charging it I could faintly see the lightning bolt while the screen continued to be white. but the image faded.
