I solved this problem for myself by touching up the pins on thr digitizer FPC with a soldering iron. I forget which pin it was, but it was the “even” row (along the edge of the board, not on the component side). I'm shocked that nobody mentioned this here. Now my seemingly ‘bad batch’ of 4 digitizers is working with the sleep/on/off button again.
