Backlight permanently on after screen replacement

I replaced my galaxy j3 front lcd and digitizer and everything seems fine but the backlight stays on even with screen asleep. I can only tell from looking in from the edge since I haven't applied final adhesive. It's a battery drain. I got the gold front and a dark grey back could that be why? Or because it's not flush yet? Appreciate any help..
