Check if the hinges are either bent, or loose from the chassis side first. If you see the screws are loose, then see how tightening them helps. If that does not help, then you are dealing with the hinges being loose inside the LCD assembly, or failed hinges. At this point, you will need to open the [guide|1428|LCD] to service the problem. This guide will cover all of the points I mentioned here on the inspection of the computer.
If your hinges are damaged in a way they are bent or worn out, you are going to have to replace the hinges. You can find a set on eBay for this computer [http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Left-Right-LCD-Hinge-Set-for-Macbook-Pro-13-A1278-MB466-2008-2009-2010-US-/331638245503?hash=item4d372e087f|here] for the computer. Replacement of the whole assembly is no longer required. Just make sure they are new.
-You can get an idea if the hinges are worn once you remove the LCD assembly, by trying to move them by hand. If they give without a fight, they are worn out and need to be replaced.
If you are really unlucky, the screw holes on the Unibody stripped.

-If your hinges are damaged, then you will need to replace the LCD assembly because Apple does not sell the parts in this individually. Apple intends it to be a single part. You are going to have to dumpster dive, or replace the whole thing unless you get lucky.
