You may have damaged the flex cable connecting the HomeButton to the logic board when you "opened" the device. The flexes don't have a lot of give and if you "turned over" (like a page in a book) the display assembly too quickly or forcefully, this could cause the flex to tear.

At this point, if you want to find the problem, you will have to go through this [guide|88860|guide] completely to remove the screen and carefully inspect the flex cable. If the flex is damaged, then only Apple can fix the TouchID. You'll have to re-assemble the device and bring it into the Apple Store.
