How do I get past the "DONT DISCONNECT" screen?

just bought the device through Ebay. Computer (desktop) told me to reformat the device before loading some songs onto it, and I said Yes since there was nothing on it. Now it only says " Do not Disconnect" on the Nano screen and that is all I can get it to do. Any ideas as to what I can do?
