First off if you think something is water damaged the worst thing to do is try to turn it on. Try placing it in a bag of rice the rice will dry it out and it might work, leave it in the bag of rice for at least one day then pull it out if you see any signs of water in or on the device. Under the screen being one of the best places to check if you do put it back in the rice for longer. Opening it up probably will not help if drying it in the rice didn't.
