iPhone 7: iPhone 7 black screen home button works

Hi all

I have dropped my phone from about 40cm in height from the table onto the carpet. The screen when picking up slowly faded to black and it never lit back up. It is worth noting the screen has not a single scratch nor crack, same for the phone. It landed quite soft and the home button does still work when pressing.

Tried restarting, DFU, all software options but without any resolution. Then opened it with the iFixit tools & guide as I read in a lot of places it could be just a simple dislodged screen cable.

I have not noticed anything particularly loose inside but I followed the guide anyway and disconnected & re-connected the two screen cables several times but no resolution. The Taptip engine/home button still works masterfully.

Does anybody have any suggestions on how to proceed now? I have already another iPhone so it is not really that I want to use it, I just desperately am trying to get to my data as I also was unable to transfer the backup I made some time ago onto my new iPhone. I really just care about the data, which is why buying a screen replacement would be the last step to undertake knowing I have another phone already.

Many tthanks in advance!

KR,

Kevin

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 stuck in recovery mode, won't restore or update with iTunes

A few weeks ago I downloaded and installed the iOS 11 beta to test some of it's new features. Eventually the massive amount of bugs made general usage of the phone terrible and I decided to reset and restore the phone to the latest version available on iTunes (10.3.2). iTunes tells me the restore was successful, though I look down and the phone is still in recovery mode. It seemed the restore failed with no error codes or anything, only saying "There's a problem with the iPhone" (annoyingly, it also suggests to restore or update, both options that I tried). I tried restoring with 2 other computers in the house, one PC and a macbook. No luck there.

EDIT: DFU mode also did not give any success or evidence of progress in any way.

Any help would me very much appreciated, as the phone is unusable and I'm out of ideas.

iPhone 7: Stuck at Apple logo at boot up

Hi all!

we have another problem facing us: iphone 7/7+ - if you are so unlucky to break your homebutton or sensor flex, your phone will not boot, it will just stay at the apple logo. You simply cannot just go changing them with aftermarket parts or OEM parts, it must be fully original (not chinese-original), which means 1. much, much harder to get, 2. much, much more expensive. This does, however, not effect screens, you can easily use the high copy grade - as long as the small parts are ORIGINAL! So, fair warning my friends, be very careful not to bust anything when taking the screens apart. Basically, Apple reinstated error code 53, but not as an itunes error, more as a phone that'll brick when booting. If you switch to original parts, it boots just fine again. Apple has not yet solved this in the latest update like they did touch-ic error on iphone 6S, and who knows if they will at all. Back in the day, they got convicted into removing error 53 (if you had aftermarket homebutton installed on ip6, your phone would brick on updating in itunes, until original button was mounted), as it was a violation of consumer rights, as Apple was making it possible, only for Apple to fix it. We are facing the same problem here, basically - and as i see it, there are 2 solutions: Apple will have to change this (as this haven't been a problem the since ip7/7+ release, but is a new thing in thread with ios 11), or we be very careful, and buy original parts when we mess up. My personal opinion: get a lawsuit going, so we get the possibility and freedom of using the parts we want (and the customers want in most cases, as it is much cheaper for them as well), back!

BTW, i don't know if this can be viewed as a question, sorry for that! This is basically just knowledge i've been researching, and passing on to you, so that you don't have to spend days looking for a fix that will not work ;)

iPhone 7: How do I properly fit a replacement screen with touch IC chip cover?

On the backside of the iPhone 7 screen is a touch IC chip covered by a gray rectangular cover near the LCD and power ribbon cables. On any replacement screen I have bought, the new touch IC chip cover is slightly larger than the OEM one. The problem is the area inside the phone where this chip cover fits does NOT have a whole lot of wiggle room. Sometimes, I get can the cover to fit perfectly in that space when inserting the new replacement screen on. Other times, the chip cover won't be fully seated and will press against the back of the LCD causing a pressure point on the front side.

Any recommendations for getting the chip cover to fit perfectly every time? Has anyone taken off the OEM chip cover and replace the non-OEM cover with it? Could you just pop off the non-OEM chip cover and simply place it in the small area inside the phone where it should fit and it'll naturally cover the touch IC chip without it actually being glued on? The 7 Plus phones have more wiggle room for this chip cover, so I've never ran into problems with that model.

iPhone 7: How to replace logic board on an iPhone 7 while keeping touch ID?

I've bought several activation locked iPhone 7' s with the mindset to simply replace the logic/motherboard. In digging deeper in my research, I've found that the logic board is actually connected to the touch ID. Since the iPhone 7's "home button" is actually just software now, opposed to the previous iPhones, it makes the whole button useless. Is there any backdoor solutions anyone has found? I've heard Apple has a re-calibration machine to match the logic board with the touch ID, although access is of course restricted to apple fixes only.

Hello so I’ve had my iPhone 7 for about a year now and I’ve realized recently that when I use the front facing camera to record a video there is a clicking noise + static noise that is in the background or that messes up the audio from the actual video.
iPhone 7: iTunes Error code 14 - Phone Bricked

This all started yesterday, I had bought an iPhone 7 off eBay for $320 photos looked legit, showed it working with no iCloud, so I hopped on it and bought it.

Well, I get it charged up and, half the icons are stuck on waiting (the person probably updated it and didn't let it fully finish?). So go into settings, it's on iOS 11.2.5 so I figured,

I'm just going to reset it because that will probably clear the waiting icon issue junk, I tap "Erase All Content and Settings"... nothing. So I tap it a couple more times.. nothing, so I tap "Reset all Settings" and it does it. Cool.

It froze ~half way through, so I hold power and volume down button to restart, and it's in recovery mode. Fine, I'll restore through iTunes, no problem.

Extracts the software... Restoring phone... Apple logo on screen. Then Bam!

Error 14. Phone's stuck at Apple logo with the loading bar anywhere from like 1% to 50% across.

OK, different cable. Error 14

Different USB ports. Error 14

Uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled. Error 14

Hackintosh Laptop. Error 14

Turned off all the Windows Defender junk. Error 14

DFU Mode. Error 14

I'm not sure what more I can do, I contacted the eBay seller and they say it's my fault because I "Tampered" with the software. There's not an Apple Store for 90 miles. Since it's used, to send it to Apple would cost $330, which is more than what I paid.

Edit/Update: 5/29 : Had the phone sent to a relative in Las Vegas, he took it to an apple store and they printed of a sheet saying the phone became bricked after trying to restore and throws error 14 indicating a hardware issue, and that I need to either replace the phone or refund with eBay..

iPhone 7: Why does my iPhone 7 overheat

Good Morning all,

So I got given an iPhone 7 to fix, Basically what is happening is it is getting so hot it causes the iPhone to warn you its got too hot and wait for it to cool down. My first thought something is shorting so let’s rule everything out, I put the board into an iPhone 7 that works perfectly and it still overheated so its a board issue. I do have some 99% alcohol on the way and my plan was wet the board, plug her in and wait for a part to dry and then that tells me what is overheating. It feels like the top back but i was wondering if this is a common issue and how anyone has managed to solve it.
