iPhone 4: I need a battery connector bypass tutorial

I am looking for anyone with any info on how to EXACTLY walk me through a battery connector bypass. Either, using bypass wires or another method. Any way that's most effective. I am not interested in sending my phone to someone, or interested in a person telling me that his/her shop sees that all the time and can fix it for me. Can anyone help me? I have a soldering kit and some soldering experience.

iPhone 4: How to fix "This accessory is not optimized for this iPhone” error?

I get this error every few minutes and the audio from the external speaker doesn't work except for the alarm clock. The external speaker will begin to work only when docked. Audio from the headphone jack still works fine all the time, though.

The issue started happening about two days after a water incident. I was at work in the basement with the phone in my jean pocket and had to run through a little water that was spraying over the walkway from a broken pipe. I only got a little wet, but now after researching the error and seeing how it could be related to water damage, I'm thinking some water may have got inside the connector because it had a greenish look to it.

After cleaning the connector out and wiping the green away, many resets, and restoring the phone, I still have the same issue. From comments around the web, I've read that simply cleaning the connector got rid of the error for a lot of people.

What further steps I should take? If I was to open the phone, where could the source of the issue be, other than the connector itself?

iPhone 4: Proximity Sensor Reversed Somehow

I currently did a white iphone 4 conversion and now the proximity sensor is reversed. While on a call, the screen stays on when placed to my ear and the screen would go black when I take it away. What would cause this? I followed your instructions to the "T". Could it be the product that whiteiphone4now.com is selling, something I did during disassembly and re-assembly, or is it a iphone software/hardware thing? There is a silver film behind the white glass front where the proximity sensor would read. Could this be the problem? FYI, I did not have this problem when the phone was stock.

iPhone 4: earpiece not working but loudspeaker or earbuds do

iPhone 4- Headphones or earbuds still work when plugged in. Loudspeaker at base works if speakerphone chosen. Earpiece has suddenly stopped working. Had been using headphones just prior. Is this a function of the headphone jack not releasing the sound circuit back to the earpiece or the earpiece itself just died? So do I need a headphone jack assembly or just an earpiece speaker?

iPhone 4: After taking apart phone, slight pressure on the lcd causes rainbows

I first thought this was related to 3RD party LCD/Digitizer panels but recently took apart a phone and just replaced the dock and didn't touch the LCD. When it is all back together and you put slight pressure on the glass you get rainbow colours as if there is a pressure point behind the LCD.

iPhone 4: lcd bleed but no glass damage

I recently did a screen replacement and customer came back a few days later saying "there's black marks on my screen" upon inspection I discovered the LCD was cracked and bleeding, but there was no damage to the glass, he agreed it was cracked and left without arguing, though said "I don't know how I couldve done that It's been in my pocket the whole time" now weeks later I just got a call from him saying he consulted with "professionals" and they assured him it was definitely a defective screen... Any opinions on this? If that's the likely answer then I'll be happy to give him a new screen (though I doubt my supplier will feel the same way) but if there's a way that he could have broken the lcd underneath without breaking the glass, like from pressure putting it in an otterbox or keys pushing against it in his pocket, then I'm at a loss as to what to say/do. What would you guys say or do?

iPhone 4: Baseband Chip broken, error -1. Need knowledge on replacing chip

Hey guys,

I have recieved and old water damaged iphone from a friend that she now has no use for. I and trying to fix it in my spare time.

The phone was lost outside in her yard for the whole winter and recovered the next year. I have taken the motherboard and cleaned it with isopropyl alchocol. The phone works almost perfectly besides the baseband issues.

I originally got the phone restored, and it was on the phone activation screen. I could not activate due to carrier lock. I then got her to come over to try her SIM card and this is when it still didnt work. I assumed there was something wrong and tried restoring it. I got it restored and the phone now said connect to itunes. Itunes continuily could not activate the phone and kept giving me the error message '' cannot continue with activation at this time....."

I then went for another restore, only to get error -1. I read about this error and tried all solutions. The furthest I have gotten was I hacktivated the phone and got it turned on completely. This gave me the ability to check eveythings working behaviour. EVERYTHING still works besides the always searching for service and there is no baseband information in settings.

I believe this is a baseband chip failure. I would like to know all possible solutions that could work. I am willing to solder and rip apart the motherboard because this is just a phone for my spare time.

Thanks,

Josh

iPhone 4: iPhone 4 screen goes dark if brightness is set to 80%+

I have had my iPhone 4 for over a year now, and suddenly the screen of my iPhone 4 GSM started to go almost totally dark if I set the brightness level higher than around 3/4 of the bar. The touch screens keeps working, I hear the sounds of locking or unlocking it, I can enter the apps, etc. If I press the sleep/wake button I see a flash of the lockscreen but it goes dark in a second. After a few tries of hard-reboot the device pressing both buttons and getting the same dark screen, I tried to set the brightness level lower by "blindly" entering settings, imagining where the brightness control is located and sliding down the bar (all this I did with the screen totally black), somehow I got it and after pressing the sleep button the lockscreen appeared and I was able to see the homescreen again. So I started playing with the brightness control and in fact it happens when I set it to a very bright level, and it works if I don't let go the control, slide it back to the left of the backlight bar, lock the screen and unlock it.

I fully restored the iphone, and tested it without installing any app, and the problem remains. I have read that many people have issues with the proximity sensor, but this doesn't seem to be the case, the sensor actually works fine with the phone app, and this never had happened before.

Do I need to change the LCD or any other part? Any suggestions?

iPhone 4: Battery Won't Charge After Dock Connector Replacement?

I spilled water on my charging cable. I let it dry for a few hours, plugged it into my phone, and it seemed to work fine. After a few days it started having trouble. I would have to reinsert the cable once or twice before it would charge. Eventually it stopped connecting to any cable I had, so I took a look at the dock connector. That thing looked in bad shape. So I ordered a new dock connector.

I just got the new dock connector into the phone and fired everything up. When I plug the charging cable from either a computer or wall outlet, all I get is the icon telling me it is pulling power from the cable. It won't charge the battery.

I've done some troubleshooting already. I restarted the phone. I opened everything up, disconnected the battery and dock connector cables inside of the phone, recleaned the connection points using a q-tip with Windex, connected everything again, and closed up the phone. Still the same problem.

I'm really at a loss here. The phone wasn't submerged in liquid, so I do not see how there could be a short somewhere else such as with the battery or logic board. Any guidance on where to go from here would be appreciated.
