iPhone 5: Power & home button not working after battery replacement

I received my replacement battery today, and after getting it installed, I immediately noticed that the power and home buttons are no longer working.

I used the usual suction cup method, rather than a feeler gauge (that I've been using now), with A LOT of force that might've damaged something upon opening the screen. I noticed that the LCD display has some bleeding (not sure how to explain it).

After checking all of the cables, everything looks normal, though.

Everything else about the phone works fine (LCD, digitizer, silent switch, vibrator, both cameras, volume buttons, Wi-Fi/etc.).

Any ideas?

Update

I ended up getting an iPhone 5s (maybe I should break phones more often?). Seriously though, I'm still angry at what happened.

I adjusted the angle of the 2 home button pins a number of times, and it just wouldn't work.

I'll let the new owned deal with it. It's currently selling on eBay

iPhone 4: How do I clean corrosion after water damage?

I have an iPhone 4 that was immersed in water, and worked for an hour or so before any problems were evident. It has spent two days in a bowl of rice, but I decided to open it up to see what's going on. The two water-sensitive stickers on the back of the logic board have turned pink, and there are copper salts deposited on the logic board near the bottom of the LCD connector (the connector outlined in orange at Step 17 here: iPhone 4 のロジックボードの交換).

I'm thinking that I will try to clean up this corrosion before trying to plug it in again, but I'm not sure what sort of tool to use. Are we talking isopropyl alcohol and a Qtip, or is there some other accepted approach?

iPhone 6: Recovering data stored on NAND chip on iPhone 6

Hi,

In order to recover data stored on the NAND chip of an iPhone 6 motherboard is it enough to desolder the NAND chip and solder it onto a donor board. I am wondering if some additional chip like the CPU, might also need to be swapped. Does anyone have any experience doing this? Any opinions for what to watch out for would be appreciated. We are very skilled at the physical desolder / solder process.

iPhone 5: iPhone 5 screen won't display and phone is really hot while charging

I recently was given an iPhone 5 from a friend of mine that had a destroyed screen. She said she dropped it while getting into her car. The screen and digitizer were destroyed so i replaced it with a new assembly. Before and after the repair the phone won't display anything on the screen but it continues to make the charging tone every few seconds when plugged into an outlet. In addition the phone gets really warm while plugged into an outlet, especially the camera module. The outside of the phone is in pretty good condition aside from the screen so i can't think that she damaged it that much. The contacts for the LCD and digitizer looked fine through a 10x loupe and the screen works well on other devices. The phone is occasionally recognized by iTunes and I have hard reseted the device 6-7 times. I'm very familiar with the inner workings on any generation iphone but this one has me very perplexed. The inside of the device looks immaculate and I've inspected most areas of contact. Im guessing a replacement battery would help but I wanted to see if anyone on here had some advice before I placed an order. I've reviewed similar posts about these issues but none of the remedies have helped.

iPhone 7 Plus: Why does my iPhone 7 Plus rear camera show black screen?

I accidentally dropped my phone a few days ago and found out the rear camera and flashlight are not working on the camera app. Instead it showed a black screen and in video mode there was an icon saying ‘iphone needs to cool down before using flash’ I tried using the snapchat camera but no luck there. So I took my iPhone to a local repair shop. They checked the connections were fine and my camera might be broken. By chance, today I opened my messenger camera by chance and it was working absolutely fine. I have tried reset/reboot and factory reset but still can’t access my back camera except from the messenger app.

iPhone 4: Touchscreen unresponsive from time to time

Hello,

Sometimes my touchscreen is unresponsive while using the phone. When it happens, I have to lock it and unlock it. Sometimes, when locked, the touchscreen doesn't answer too. So I have to leave the phone alone for a few minutes and try again later.

I have tried:

Restarting the phone with Home+Power buttons (10s)

Restoring the phone

Others symptoms:

I have read that the touchscreen connector could be lightly disconnected. But this problem happens either I use the phone in my hand or placed on a table.

I made some tests using the calculator app. When the problem occurs, the gyroscope still works since I can flip the phone and use the calc in portrait/landscape mode.

All the buttons (volume, power, home, even handfree kit) works too

Of course, the phone fell down a few times but nothing harmful.

How can I test either it's an iOS or hardware issue ?

iPhone 7: Screen does not fit right into frame

Hello there fellow technicians,

I have a following question, probably you had experienced it as well already.

New screen for iphone 7 doesnt fit right into the frame by the screen connectors. It leaves a little gap instead of perfectly sinking into the frame. If you remove metal plate that hold screen connector in plate it helps. If you force it down and close pentalobes you get a white hue on the screen caused by the pressure of the screen flex cables.

I have experienced this issue several times not and I was wondering if its the quality of new screens (I use original refurbished) or is it something I am not doing right?

UPDATE:

Ran into this issue again but managed to find a real solution. Basically, its the ic (see the picture) on the flex cable of the screen. You need to make sure its on the right position because if its too high it will press metal plate that covers screen connectors on the motherboard. Before you put the metal plate cover that covers the flexes on the screen put it a little bit higher so the flexes stick to it and then slide it down so its in the right position. Good luck!

iPhone 5: Does anyone else have a bent iPhone 5?

My iPhone 5 bent soon after I received it, from normal use! I don't even keep it in my back pocket.

It bent backwards starting from the - volume button. If you have this problem too, please reply!

Update

… and now the Sleep/Wake button on my iPhone 5 is malfunctioning. It has just about completely ceased to function. This iPhone is not even two years old!

A lot of people doubt these words and claim it's a scam or say "iPhones don't bend by themselves!" And it's true. They don't. But if it takes just 5 Newtons of pressure to bend it, it's probably not difficult to apply that amount of pressure in even the side pocket of a pair of jeans. That's called a design flaw, not misuse or abuse.

Just sayin'.

Update

Apple's got a Sleep/Wake button replacement program for iPhone 5 now. Check their website for more info, and to see if your specific iPhone is eligible.
