iPhone 4: How to retrieve pictures from iPhone that won't turn on

I have an iPhone 4 that is very much broken. I finally got my computer to recognize it, but it is locked with a passcode. The screen will not come on at all for me to enter the code, so I can't find a way to get the pictures off of it. I'm sure if I replaced the glass/LCD I could get it to work—but I've already bought an iPhone 5, so I'd really hate to have to do that. Is there any way to get these pictures off without putting more money into the phone? Is there a way to enter the passcode from the computer?

Thanks!

iPhone 6: Can't hear my phone calls. How to fix it?

Hello guys.

I live in Ukraine. My friend from California bought iphone 6 and brought it to me, so have no possibility to return it back to Apple, we haven't got autorized apple distributors.

After unboxing I recovered it with my iphone 5s backup . And tried to make a call, all I heard was Nothing. Another person always hear me well but I don't hear anything even if I switch to the speaker and headphones as well.

I tried to use skype. it works I do hear everything. So made a conclusion that my earpiece works as well as speakerphone, because it works in youtube app and etc.

What I've already tried:

- Restore it from iTunes (3 times)

- Tried another sim card of another carrier.

- My sim card works in iphone 5s, checked all the problems might be related to carrier.

- Chatted with Apple support (2 consultants, 1 supervisor, all options exhausted)

I found smth related to my question here I can't hear my phone calls unless I put it on speaker., but in my situation speakerphone doesn't work also while calling and I'm sure my earpiece is not broken, it's some kinda software bug, that makes my phone a brick

Maybe smb have faced with such issue and can suggest something valuable,

thank you

p.s. sorry for my English

iPhone 4S: iPhone 4S Doesn't Recognise any SIM card

I have a 4S and its a strange issue, it doesn't recognise any SIM card 99% of the time. By this i mean tonight i have removed the board and using compressed air and pure alcohol cleaning solution to try and clean the SIM area and it worked!, right up until i removed the SIM card to try another. Before i did this i had nothing recognised.

I don't know if i should try a different SIM reader, my abilities don't stretch that far so will have to pay. I'm more concerned it could be an issue on the board as the SIM reader looks perfectly fine.

iPhone 5: What Adhesive or Glue is used to adhere Glass to Frame?

Hello fellow Fixers!

This question has been on my mind for years now I have yet to find an answer so I have come here to gather like minded people to find a solution.

What I am running into is screens coming loose from the frame of the screen its self (not the frame or casing of the iPhone).

A lot of my parts have been coming back from costumers with the screen coming up or loose. Mainly on iPhone 5S, 5C, and 5. But sometimes even on 4S and 4.

I am wanting to find some type of adhesive that is redly available on amazon or ebay or even local stores such as walmart or lowes.

Basically I need something that is exactly what Apple uses which I know is probably a protected patent but there should be something close out there. Something that is in a Gel form so it is easily controllable and only goes where you want it to go. Bonds quickly at around 15 seconds. But then once it dries is flexible like silicone.

I have been using Loctites Gel Control super glue which is great as far as control and bonding quickly, but it can damage the iPhone. I have seen it to where the glue will crack and it either becomes un-bonded again, or the glass gives before the glue and cracks the glass, or pulls the paint off underneath.

This needs to be solved not only for screens coming back defective so that we can provide a proper adhesive, but would also be great to find for those shops doing a "Glass only" replacement and needs to re-adhere the frame to the Glass, Digitizer, LCD assembly after curing the UV Glue.

Okay okay, I'm probably rambling at this point but you get the idea. Any feedback would be great.

Thanks!

iPhone 4S: No signal after screen repair, Searching... NEW

Hi All, I am a phone repairer who has fixed over 3000 iphone 4/4s phones.

In the last 2 weeks, almost every single 4S I have repaired (using the same aftermarket parts I have always sourced) the phone is now showing Searching... when the phone is turned back on.

I have had some that show the following:

Searching.... 3G

And they actually have signal, but no showing of bars or signal strength.

Others show the following

Searching....

And do not have reception at all. Removing the sim card and tray does not even generate the 'No sim card' message. So it is almost like the phone does not even recognise the sim card is installed.

I have come across a couple of work around solutions to get the signal back.

1. Start phone with no sim tray. Once phone is booted insert sim tray. This has only worked maybe once or twice.

2. Start the phone with an invalid sim (from another carrier). The phone then recognizes this invalid sim and asks the phone to be activated. I can then remove the invalid sim, put in the correct sim, it prompts for the sim lock. Once sim lock is cleared phone is back to normal.

3. Boot phone with sim in, get Searching... message. Turn on and connect to a Wifi signal, then remove the sim. No sim message appears. Re-insert sim, it prompts for sim lock. Once sim lock code entered phone is fine.

It almost seems as though if the sim has a lock, the phone is not bringing up the 'Sim Locked, Unlock' message. Most of the workarounds I have found produce the "Sim Locked" message after the procedure that then allows reception again.

From what I can tell, all of these phones have IOS 6.0 or later and Modem 3.0.04

I would like to know what is causing this and how to more quickly resolve this issue.

Have any other repairers been having these issues?

Thanks in advance.

Update

As the original poster of this thread I have to say that after seeing this issue over and over again (easily more than 100 iphones) I can say that whenever there is a service issue, simply setting the correct date and time will restore service. Sometimes the phone needs to be rebooted twice, but most of the time one reboot is fine. If there is a sim pin, that will complicate the process. Usually when there is a sim pin it takes longer for the phone to recognise the sim and give you the sim pin prompt. But again, it always comes good.

Now if the phone had signal issues before the phone was repaired, then you will continue to have issues after a screen replacement. They are not directly linked at all. Also, there are lots of issues with carrier locked phones and stolen phones. I have people all the time come in to have a phone repaired that they 'just bought cheap of ebay' or 'just bought cheap of a friend of a friend'. We repair, and then they go and chuck any old sim at it and expect it to work. When it doesn't they assume it is our fault the phone is 'broken' and not working. So be careful with signal issues, the problem can be for many varying reasons.

iPhone 5: Constantly searching for signal.

I replaced the volume/vibrate/lock flex on my iPhone 5 and once I got it back together the phone is constantly "Searching" for the cellular network. Everything else works on the phone. I also noticed that when I eject the SIM card the phone does not display "No Sim" as it would normally. It is an AT&T iPhone 5. Does anyone have any idea what could have caused this? The cell antenna in the bottom right corner is not compromised and the interconnect cables are attached correctly. What else could cause this problem?

iPhone 8 Plus: iPhone 8 plus home button not "clicking" after screen replacement.

I have been repairing iphones in my business for 3 years now. Yesterday I replaced the screen and digitizer on an Iphone 8 plus. The home button was intact and functioning on the original screen. After the repair when I tested the phone, the home button would not respond to the "click" function. I realize that the iphone 7 and 8 no longer have an actual button, but they do vibrate to give the feeling of a click and the function is still there, to return to home and double click to close apps. The finger print reader was functioning , and read the owners fingerprint, but the button wouldn't click. I then reassembled the original screen and the home button functioned correctly. I called the vender who I had order the screen from to request a replacement for what i thought was a defective screen. I was told that it is hit and miss on iphone 8's - and that is was surprising that the home button worked at all. I did some searching on the internet and can't find anything about , the original home button for the iphone not working with a replacement screen. Is this really a hit or miss issue, or did I just have a defective screen. I can't offer a screen replacement and take away the function of the person's home button.

iPhone 7: All earphones not working even though chargers do

Hello there, I have an iPhone 7, with 128 GB. I haven't been paying it much attention recently, but I think it might be failing me somehow. It has about 35 GB of memory left, but its performance has been so bad the past few days. For instance, the camera often freezes, sometimes does not take a picture although everything looks like and feels like I've snapped one, the camera lags and freezes up when I try to switch camera, the Apple Maps suddenly stopped working - everything resulted in a 'No suggestions found' and walking navigation did not work as well (but it fixed itself a few hours later when all I did was surf some sites and watched 2 predownloaded episodes of Netflix). I thought it might be a memory issue as I have been travelling and I did not have time to backup all of my photos and videos (pretty sure it's the only thing taking up 80% of the memory) and I tried to use the 'iPhone Storage' function but it often freezes up or become unresponsive or when the screen goes black it just goes back to the home screen when I unlock it again.

The biggest problem that I wish to talk about is (I mentioned the above just in case someone knows if it's linked altogether or if I probably just need to get a new one or do a hard reset or something...)

So currently, my earphones/earbuds don't work. They are the ones issued along with the iPhone itself. I have 1 that came with this iPhone 7, which only has the lightning jack as well as my older one from my iPhone 5S or 6 (can't remember) as well as the audio jack to lightning adapter that came with this iPhone 7. Both of them do not work, and instead, the audio is played from the iPhone speakers when I plug any of the earbuds in. The earbuds do work as I have just tried them on a computer. The lightning dock does work as well as I managed to charge it through the wall last night, as well as from a portable charger while I am on the go.

Currently, I have only tried restarting the iPhones and hard restarting it. Also, trying to clear the lightning dock of debris (if any), as well as tracing both my audio cables to look for any breakage of sorts, but the older cable does work as I plugged it into another audio source. Any help would be really appreciated!

iPhone 7: iPhone 7 home button not working after disconnecting the battery

Has anyone else seen the iPhone 7 home button stop working after only disconnecting the battery?

At our shop we have been replacing screens on the iPhone 7 since December of last year. We have not had any problems with the home button becoming deactivated after a repair till about a month ago.

We started seeing a few cases where the phone button would not function after putting on the new screen. The phone would either not wake up from a black screen and only recognized it was being pressed when the screen was on. Then after entering the passcode it would not function at all. Sometimes it gives a messaging saying "iPhone home button needs servicing" and automatically activates the assistive touch. In other cases it just says the familiar "unable to active touch ID" like it has with all the older models with touch ID functionality. This may be related to which IOS it is on.

Until a few days ago we assumed it was the screens we were replacing it with since we did not damage the home button in any of the cases. But this week we tested an iphone 7 that someone brought us with a cracked screen. There was no issue with the home button after the screen was cracked and no message saying "iphone home button may need servicing"

All we did was power off the phone and disconnect the battery with the screen flex cables still attached. Then we reconnected it and upon bootup the phone gave the "unable to activate touch ID) message.

This might be a software but with the version of IOS the phone was on, sadly we were unable to check.

iPhone 3GS: Why won't my iPhone 3GS turn on?

My iPhone 3GS (32 gb) randomly turned off last night and now it won't turn back on. I know it was at least 70% charged the last time I used it, but I wasn't using it when it randomly turned off.

I tried to charge it with my wall adapter, car adapter, and I tried hooking it up with USB to my laptop and nothing has worked.

Do you think this a battery issue since it doesn't even show a "charging" symbol when I plug it in? It is an older phone and I've never replaced any parts on it.

I want to avoid having to restore since I will lose all my data and photos (which wasn't properly backed up the last time I connected to iTunes). :( Please help!
