iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen: Ipad Pro not charging or recognized

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble with my iPad Pro 3rd gen, model A2377. It suddenly stopped charging. I've already replaced both the battery and the charging port, but the issue persists.

It seems to charge very slowly when in DFU mode, but it's not recognized by my computer. I'm really stuck and could use some help.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any suggestions on what I should try next? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen: Charging detected but very slow + distorted speakers + one-sided audio

I recently worked on an iPad Pro 11" 3rd generation and replaced several parts:

Chassis (housing)

Display

All 4 speakers

USB-C charging port

After reassembly, I’m now facing multiple issues:

Charging is detected but extremely slow (battery percentage barely increases)

All speakers are heavily distorted (on all corners)

USB-C audio only works on one side (only one earbud)

The USB-C port is brand new and properly installed.

I double-checked all connections and flex cables, nothing seems out of place.

Has anyone already encountered this kind of issue after a repair like this?

What could be causing it?

I was thinking about something related to power management (PMIC / charging IC or maybe a damaged power line), but I’d like to hear if others have seen similar symptoms.

iPad Pro 11" 4th Gen: iPad Pro 11" 2022 does not charge. The connector has been replaced.

The iPad periodically did not charge and stopped charging at all. I disassembled it and charged the internal battery. The iPad turned on and works fine except for charging and data transfer via cable. I replaced the connector. I examined the old one carefully and I do not rule out that the contacts on it were damaged and shorted out. With the new connector, the iPad also does not want to charge. I checked the USB-C tester and I see that the VBUS line is faulty, but I do not have a diagram to trace the path of this line and decide on further repairs.

Voltage on the port is 5V, current fluctuates around 0.2A.

Perhaps someone has a diagram of at least previous models to suggest where to look for the problem? Can you advise anything?

iPad Pro 12.9" 5th Gen: ipad not turning on or charging for weeks

It's been a few weeks since it randomly died.

The battery was full one day and the next morning it wasn't responding to anything. The battery has never actually emptied literally overnight without being used for me (at least not with this ipad). And yet in the morning when I went to turn it on, it's like it wasn't charged for years. It was around 70% charged the night before.

It would not turn on at all, not even the battery logo.

There isn't any visible damage, it didn't fall or something similar. It simply died in the 8 hours when I was asleep for no reason. Didn't move a centimeter. I've never had problems like this with it.

I've tried many different cables and adapters including the original ones and plugging it to my laptop. I let it charge for days at a time with no response.

It's very important to fix it as it's what i use to draw and all my art is on it.

iPad Pro 10.5": Visually glitching when touching the bezel near the home button?

Has anyone ever seen this before? Know how it can happen or if there's a solution other than replacing the screen?

Alternatively, if it's just... left this way, will it get worse over time?

The screen works perfectly fine. But if you touch the bezel just about 1" to the right of the home button it glitches like crazy. As soon as you stop touching the bezel it goes back to normal.

I have taken a quick video, but can't upload video here. Some screenshots attached.

It does not do this with any part of the screen nor any other part of the bezel. Only specifically when touching the bezel in this exact space.

To be clear, a small bit of pressure is required. Just physical contact on that spot doesn't do anything, but a small amount of pressure (around the same amount to click the home button) produces these weird results.

First photo is screen working fine. Next photos are just some examples of the crazy chaotic glitching that can happen.

iPad Pro 13" (M5): Moisture Detected Message When Trying To Charge.

Bought brand new 2 months ago and it has never been near any water or any environment that will expose it to any moisture.,The charger and connection area look like new, no damage, carefully handled since new. It won't charger anymore and displays a message "Moisture Detected". The system is updated to the newest available. Purchased in Thailand at Apple Mobile Store, Apple Philippines refuse to look at it and say we must go back to where we bought it in Thailand 2 months ago. My guess is the sensor on the charger board or main board has triggered this message but we cannot get spare parts for it as it is so new. Great product & service huh.

iPad Pro 11": Hello everyone, I have an iPad Pro 11" M1 (2021) Nike Edition that fel

Hello everyone,

I have an iPad Pro 11" M1 (2021) Nike Edition that fell into tap water. It does not power on at all.

Here’s what happened so far:

Device fell in water (possibly some went into the speakers and ports)

Currently it is completely off, no response when pressing Power or connecting to charger

I have not tried to power it on again after water exposure

I want to avoid causing further damage

I am looking for advice from experienced repair technicians who have dealt with water-damaged iPads, specifically:

Which components are most likely damaged (ICs, power management, battery, connectors, etc.)

How to safely diagnose the device

Whether it is possible to purchase replacement parts and fix it safely

Recommendations for remote or mail-in repair services if professional help is required

Important: I do not want any repair performed before I receive a diagnostic report. I just need to know which parts are damaged and what is required for repair.

Thank you in advance for any guidance or experience you can share!

iPad Pro 12.9": Ipad shuts off at 100%

Hello! So, my iPad has been doing this thing when I charge it at 60% overnight and by the morning its “dead” even though it’s at 100%. It will power up for about a minute, if plugged in, and show 100%. But, if I unplug it within that one minute it will immediately shut off and “die”.I connected it to coconut battery a couple days ago and it showed what’s in the image.

I also used a battery app that I downloaded from the App Store and it said the design capacity was at 30% but coconut says 80%. I don’t get that. But, is it time that I replace the battery or could it be something else?

iPad Pro 12.9": iPad Pro 12.9 touchscreen is unresponsive from time to time

I bought the iPad Pro 3 months after released date until now. Recently my iPad Pro sometimes unresponsive to any kind of tap but as far as I know 5 finger gesture still works but 1/2 fingers tap and swipe is not possible.

I can return to home just like pressing the home button by swipe with 5 fingers.

During unresponsive I cannot

- tap with 1 finger.

- swipe left and right with 1 finger.

- swipe with 2 finger

- zoom in zoom out with 2 finger.

I haven't made any update since I got it from Apple. iOS 10.2

At first I I tried to tap and it doesn't respond but keep tapping it sometimes works. Not so often but I dislike it when it occurs during gaming. Leave it rest awhile and it just back online as it used to be about a couple minutes.

So I made another test by using apple pencil when touchscreen is unresponsive and it works apple pencil works like normal.

I am never drop the iPad, nor crash it against something let say I am taking care of it like a little chid.

Update (06/01/2018)

Now I see where the problem came from. I leave the Apple Pencil battery to runs out completely. Now touchscreen is solved but when I plugged the Apple Pencil back just within a first 3 seconds I having a same issue again.

Update (09/23/2018)

After iOS 12 the problem still there even it’s a bit less but it seems to occur from some kind of angle and rotation. Shaking iPad Pro a few times seems to be the best way to fix the issue temporary. I have to shake it a lot when I am playing in bed.

Update (10/01/2018)

I think one of the problem that I believe in… Must be the iPad fault itself (bending). I mean the material that made or construct the iPad Pro is as thin as iPad mini so it is easily to bend.

I am noticed this problem because I am once visit the shop and staff put my iPad pro 12.9 on the table and told me that very very slightly of iPad pro is bend. I think because this bend causing touchscreen sensitivity to not working properly in some certain angle, especially in landscape mode. However I am still having problem in portrait mode also when playing Clash Royale. There are some kind of hardware system or piece that determine what angle of iPad pro is and rotate the screen for. So while this problem occur I am also seeing my iPad Pro doesn’t rotate when tilt to either from Landscape to Portrait or Portrait to landscape. Shaking like !&&* is one of the best calibration but only works in a short period of time.

When playing while on bed that iPad Pro is facing down to me, also making iPad sensitivity nearly stop working.

I wish I am still have a video that I took. You all should try by changing background to apple logo. While problem occurs or screen is freezing or sensitivity is bad, You will see Apple logo background is shaking like !&&*.

Background must be set to Dynamic to see how it works.

Sensitivity is bad while playing or typing, there will be some spot or whole touchscreen stop working in very short time but can come and go many times during a few seconds period.

Screen freezing will take a lot longer and whole iPad touchscreen is not working.

Both can be temporary fixed by Shaking real hard (make sure you are holding iPad firmly so it won’t fly out)

Update (10/10/2018)

I don’t have time to get a replacement but right now All I know is iPad Pro seems to choose the time of error by it’s own. Problem always occur at night while I’m in bed. Some kind of angle or iPad orientation?

Never have this problem while working. Could be an iPad orientation that cause this problem? or because of night shift?

Something weird in my iPad Pro.

I am no longer have this problem while using before 5 PM… But problem seems to start at 8 PM and more…

Update (10/11/2018)

Anyone have this problem of shaking iPad logo. I did a clean install already so it doesn’t have so many apps like in this video but shaking still be but less occurs. This problem doesn’t occur every time when touchscreen stop working but touchscreen 100% not working when this thing occurs.

I am noticing this because I did set my background as dynamic and only apple logo and by this I can see when problem occurs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4a-kgAZv...

Update (10/13/2018)

Buy a new one is best solution for now. Today i went to Apple care and staff cannot diagnosed my iPad problem but simply replied. It’s normal for any iPad under heavy usages for many years. They do not have repair policy here but instead return and giving me a new (with a %#*@ price)

I might wait for a new iPad to come and see who will sell their iPad in very good price and condition..

or grab a new iPad instead

Update (12/17/2018)

Ok now to the last update. I found out this problem also caused in iPad Pro 3rd Gen or to say both iPad 11 and 12.9 iPad Pro 2018 also have a sensitivity issue. After talking to Apple they already addressed the issue as Static electricity which will cause to some people. While iPad seems not working to me but it is still working with Apple pencil , Rubber tip pencil also working normally. Some of my family member can use while it doesn’t respond to my finger Because something has to be with electrical discharge and static electricity in your body and finger.

Because iPad Pro has a magnet inside while other iPads doesn’t.

Right now nothing we can do until Apple solve it.

Another thing, if you having this problem Go grab the Apple keyboard case it seems to solved this problem perfectly. Many of my friends in facebook group say the same thing that problem disappeared when attached to Apple smart keyboard (only works with Apple keyboard, not Magic or any bluetooth keyboard)

Update (12/20/2018)

My lastest information after I heard so many members in iPad Pro facebook group telling me that Apple smart keyboard folio can fix this issue so I did tried something different. Because I owned a Gen 1 12.9 iPad Pro so I cannot find old folio in Apple store, I got plastic case with magnetic cover from AliExpress instead and yes, now I can play this iPad Pro in any direction, Any angle, no more shaking background, no more unresponsive touchscreen. All gone. Just like a new one. So what people said about this must be true and because the display product in Apple store also come with Folio thats’s why we never see the display product having this problem. I believe the magnetic case discharge the static electric from the screen or from magnetic beneath the screen. I am also use a same old temped glass on iPad Pro 3 years ago so now that the glass is not the main issue.

For 3rd Gen iPad Pro, You still have to pick the Glass film wisely as some of them may causing face ID to not working properly and some causing the touchscreen have less sensitivity.

Update (01/18/2019)

iPad Pro gen 3 seems to work perfectly without any protective case and film or glass. Not the way we intend to use but as I keep watching people using them without any of these, They don’t have a problems (Some still but very low)

Update (01/20/2019)

Guys and Girls. If you have an old iPad Pro that already out of warranty. try to lower the battery and remove all the case and protective screen cover if possible. Visit Apple and asking for battery repair. Since Apple don’t have battery repair like iPhone they will give you a new one with a lot less cost. For Apple in my country will cost around 100 US$ for a new one. Just hope that your iPad won’t show any problems to their technician and perhaps you will have a chance for a new one with low price. I gave it to Apple and never mentioned even a single problem. They doesn’t seems to noticed too.

Update (05/19/2019)

Now I gotta say after a bit long wait, a few Apple care attempts for battery replacement and testing. I got a wonderful iPad Pro (New one). I did use my iPad Pro in insanely to drain the battery life down to 78% and I did talked to Apple for a battery replacement because they don’t have the same policy as the iPhone so they gave me a new one with a cost of 135 dollars to be exact for the same color and same capacity. Their policy doesn’t allow me to choose other color. I know that if they ran out of iPad Pro gen 1 2015 They will gave me iPad pro Gen 2 for me instead. After got the iPad Pro I am just simply plug in the Apple pencil directly, in front of Apple Care staff. No problem until now, no issue after all. BTW as a new iPad goes. I am now only using plastic/leather case and no any kind of screen protection because even I have very few scratches, when it’s time for the battery replacement they will give a new one anyway. The old one even have a scratch by accidentally once on the edge and Apple care doesn’t even mention about it.

Update (11/26/2019)

Now now with a new iPad Pro 2015 from the battery replacement program which Apple gave me a new one since then until now. Nothing bad happened to my iPad, No problem with touchscreen at all. It does upgrade from iOS 12 to iOS 13 and everything looks pretty good. I can’t say what exactly causes a problem with my first iPad Pro though but I can now rest and no longer frustrated with my new iPad Pro. Thank you Apple for this new one.

Update (09/26/2020)

After several months maybe almost a year. I can’t remembered but the updates that I made in my post keep me noticed for how long I have been using a new iPad that I got from battery replacement. Right now the new one have been working for me for very long and have no issue or any kind of issues like the first one did after 10 months of frustration using it. (Entered the program 26 Nov 2019) Now this replacement iPad still good and working like a charm but battery is now below 73% health and soon enough maybe good for another application of battery replacement again. I might try again next year. Wish me luck though that the 3rd iPad will have no problem.

iPad Pro 11" 3rd Gen: Sliced a digitizer cable while taking off screen

I needed to replace the charging port and when I powered it back on, I noticed the top part of the screen was unresponsive. After taking it apart again I realized I sliced through the top most cable to the digitizer. Is there anything I can do to repair this? Fixed one problem…created another! I was hoping this repair was going to give me a present for my daughter.

iPad Pro 12.9" 2nd gen: Why are the iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd Gen screens so expensive?

I am trying to source a replacement screen for an iPad Pro 12.9” 2nd gen (1670). The prices are beyond outrageous often costing as much or more than buying another device refurbished or used. The lowest I’ve seen is around $350 or so. A came across a couple of ads from small repair shops claiming to do glass only repairs, but even they charge over $300.

In comparison, the same size 1st Gen screens are practically given away, selling for around $150 to $200. What makes the 2nd gen prices go from outrageous to absurd, is the cost of the 3rd Gen screens. These are the latest models and you can find them for around $300 and sometimes less!

What’s going on here? I’m hoping the prices come down to earth, but I’m not holding my breath, given the equally absurd prices for older Retina MacBook Pro displays.
