iPad Air 2 LTE: Where to apply replacement adhesive strips?

Hi,

I ordered the battery replacement kit and have the battery replaced, seems to be fine. Cleaned up the edges of the screen and body, now want to install the adhesive strips.

Do I apply them to the screen or the body? There is no guidance within any of the iPad Air 2 guides, and the links referred to above are invalid...?

I know, I know, it seems pretty logical looking at it but I just would like to get it right as there's only one set of the strips...

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi: charging port is broken

Hi, my iPad Air 2 is not charging, it is completely dead. It is missing a charging port 7th pin (L1p, lane 1 positive). When I plug in the charging cable it doesn't show the "battery" logo, nothing. I have tried the force restart, nothing. Is this pin need for the charging, if I change the charging port it working fine again? Thank you. Atti

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi: Blank screen after replacement

I've just replaced the screen on an IPad Air 2, I am testing it before final assembly and the screen is completely blank. I have plugged the iPad into iTunes and it is recognised correctly although I can't do anything with it because the device is locked and, of course, I can't use the screen.

I have tried reattaching the old screen (minus the home button), this was broken but produced a distorted image, however now it isn't producing anything visible at all.

I believe that the three connectors are in place correctly, they all gave the usual 'snap' as they went in.

I'm looking for any suggestions of what might cause this to happen. I have transferred the home button from the broken screen and obviously that is s delicate operation, could a blank screen point to a problem with the home button or should the screen fire up without one?

Any help appreciated

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi: Frequent kernel panics due to thermalmonitord, missing sensors: TG0B

My iPad Air 2 keeps kernel panicking due to the thermalmonitord service not getting a response. I have seen a few other people with this issue, but not any with the same missing sensor (TG0B) and also mine doesn’t reboot every 180 seconds indicating that it isn’t always faulty. I did get the display replaced previously, and when I received the device back it was completely dead so I sent it back and they fixed it. 3utools reports a changed battery, could this be the issue? I can’t send the device back as I have run out of repair claims (the iPad is provided through my school). What is wrong with the device?

iPad Air 2: iPad Air 2 Boot Loop / Restore not possible

Hi,

i currently have a problem with my iPad Air 2 (WIFI).

I updated it recently and now it is stuck in a bootloop. Or at least it looks like one to me.

So here is my problem:

The iPad is charging but when I try to start the device the apple logo appears for 12-17 seconds and then just turns off - then it starts again.

This loop goes on until I turn it off or the battery is empty.

I can access the Restore and DFU mode. During those modes the iPad does not enter the boot loop. The loop only starts as soon as the apple logo appears for a few seconds.

I tried the following:

- Restore from ‘normal’ restore mode and DFU mode. That said, the restore process shows the apple logo with a progress bar below but then turns off again. There is no progress recognizable at the bar before the iPad restarst. Then iTunes tells me there was an error 4013 (first there was the error 9 but after I bought a new cable its now 4013).

- I tried 3uTools but it stopped after 20% and was stuck.

- I tried Reiboot but after confirming the firmware it tells me the system could not be repaired.

- I tried to download the IPSW separately but it still shows the same error in iTunes.

The iPad was never opened.

Is there anything I could try ?

Or is the iPad just broken?

Thanks for every help.

iPad Air 2 Wi-Fi: Displays nothing but static after repair.

The digitizer on the iPad was completely shattered, but the LCD and everything else was fully functional. Everything came off easily, I had no issue with pulling on any of the components.

After I attached the new display, I made sure to test it before applying the adhesive. All the iPad would display was this static. I repeatedly removed the display, making sure to check the connections and clean them with 91% alcohol. No matter how many times I tried resetting, cleaning or re-seating the display, it would only ever give me the same static.

The only other time I’ve seen an LCD look like this, was because it was damaged. The box the new display came in was undamaged, and the display looks pristine. So I assumed that it might’ve had a defect and I requested a replacement.

Fast forward to today, and the new display is giving me the exact same static as the first one. I have repeatedly done the same, reset the iPad, cleaned the connections and thoroughly examined the connectors under magnification for damage. No matter what I try nothing seems to change, and I can’t spot even the slightest damage to any of the connectors.

Now I’m certain it’s not a defective part, as both screens have been from iFixit. I know the iPad is booting correctly, as after it boots I’m able to power it down normally with the slide to power off.

I have fixed quite a few iPads and I’ve never had a problem like this before, is there anything I’m over looking? I’ve looked over the other topics and I haven’t found anything exactly like this one, and none of the fixes they had worked for me.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
