Steam Deck: Little alcohol mistake after changing battery.

Hello,

I got a new battery and during the phase where you remove the old battery I used alcohol at first (Ethyl alcohol 99% NOT Isopropyl) and ignored the warning about spilling and I also had no tool for heating. I had no success and spilled the alcohol. I bought the cheepest hair dryer and finally got it out.
Anyway long story short, after I turned my Steam Deck on I saw the damage (?) as seen in the pictures.

Did I ruin the screen and need a replacement or is it possible to clean?

Steam Deck: Why won't my device switch on?

For the beginning my SteamDeck booted up normally and played games normally. Later, I replaced it with a larger SSD, and it also booted up normally to play games. However, I haven't used it for more than a year, and when I wanted to use it later, I found that it couldn't boot up. No matter how I pressed it, it didn't respond, there was no backlight, and there was no sound of the fan starting up. When I plugged in the charger, the indicator light would turn white, then flash slowly for a while, then go off, and then turn red. I didn't find any relevant pattern.

Steam Deck: How to replace the thermal sticker?

Specifically, the little rectangular black sticker that connects the fan housing to the heatsink. When I was upgrading my fan (from the Delta fan to the Huaying fan), the thermal sticker lost its stickiness, and now the ends and the top edge aren't holding very well. The Deck also seems to be running hotter than it should be when playing 3D titles, which forces the Huaying fan to spin up enough to be audible.

I've read that the purpose of the sticker is just to route airflow and not to transfer heat between the heatsink and the fan housing, which sounds right but I don't actually know this for sure. I have electrical tape at home, but IIRC electrical tape adhesive can fail above 80C, and this would be going right on a heat pipe. It wouldn't be a huge financial hardship to just order a roll of Kapton tape and use that, but I also don't know for sure whether that would work.

Any tips?

Steam Deck: Refurbished Steam Deck Extremely Slow – Games Lagging, Long Boot Time

Refurbished Steam Deck Extremely Slow – Games Lagging, Long Boot Time, Fan Barely Spins

Hey everyone,

I recently got a refurbished Steam Deck and have been facing major performance issues right from the start. Here's what's going on:

The system is extremely slow — it takes over 2 hours to boot.

Games like Dave the Diver run at only ~20 FPS, and overall performance is poor.

I tried replacing the SSD and also flashed SteamOS, but nothing changed.

I gave it to a service center, and they told me the processor is slow, but instead of replacing it, they said they’ll just "fix" it.

Also noticed that the fan barely spins — maybe 3 rotations max before stopping.

My questions:

What could be causing such a massive slowdown even after changing the SSD and reinstalling the OS?

Can a processor actually be "fixed" in this case, or does it usually require a replacement?

Could the fan issue be related to thermal throttling or something else?

Any insights or similar experiences would really help! Thank you !

Steam Deck: Steam deck battery seems disconnected after changing ssd

My SSD card is being recognized in the BIOS after installing it. I had unplugged the battery before working on anything and put the battery on storage mode.

When I plugged in the battery cable back in the Steam Deck it shows a 3-second light indicating that the battery is connected as I understand from this video:

https://youtu.be/lWIkYoA9m_w?feature=sha...

However, when I was finished and closed the steam deck again, I plug in the charging cable to remove the battery storage mode. The Steam Deck powers on. It was previously on around 15% of battery.

But when I unplug the charging cable from the Steam Deck it suddenly goes off.

So now, even after charging the Steam Deck for a while, when I remove the cable, it is as if there is no battery connected.

Steam deck is currently plugged in and I'm attempting to re-image. Battery shows the z sign and 0% to indicate it draws the power from the plug.

Perhaps I pulled the cable out of the motherboard?

What am I missing? Please help.

My Steam Deck joystick replacement (part number 34F7AJB0000) arrived in a plastic bag, and the stick was forced to the right while inside the bag. Once removed from the bag, I gave it a test to make sure it was okay. The joystick "sticks" in place when pushed all the way in any direction. I have to give it a little nudge to get it to return to the center. This is prior to it being installed.
