Dremel Rotary Tool: How to Test Dremel Sliding Switch

Hi all, my Dremel 3000 has stopped working and I assumed that because I was using it to cut small bolts and it was taking a while it had simply overheated or blown a fuse. Fuse in the plug (UK) is fine and nothing looks burnt out inside.

Based on other people's problems I suspect it's the switch that's failed but I'm not sure I'm testing it properly. I've got continuity in some bits but not others but I don't know if that's because it's faulty or because I'm doing it wrong. Can anyone talk me through how to test the switch correctly and what reading I should expect? Should I be getting 0 resistance or is a certain level ok? Just want to make absolutely sure it is the switch before I buy a new one.

Thanks in advance.

Dremel 4000: Need help diagnosing my broken Dremel 4000 – already changed brushes &

Hi,
I'm hoping someone can help with my Dremel 4000. It stopped working a while ago, and I just got around to trying to fix it. I'm pretty sure it overheated.

So far, I've replaced the thermal fuse and the motor brushes. The new thermal fuse tests with continuity, and the coils also show continuity (I had another Dremel before where a coil wire had broken near the contact, that's why I checked for that).

When I try to start it now — there are visible sparks between the brushes, and the motor vibrates pretty hard, but it doesn’t spin.

From online references, I believe the motor is wired correctly, but I’m not entirely certain.

Any ideas on what else I should test?

Thanks in advance!

Also adding a video of what happens when I turn it on now and how I've connected the motor.

Edit: I suspect that one of the 2 coils is not getting power, whether it's because of wrong connections, the coil itself being faulty somehow (like the other Dremel and the broken wire) or if it's an electrical issue causing it not to get power, I'm not sure yet. But from my research that could explain the sparking and vibrations with no turning.

This part is for a Dewalt DCE555 Drywall Cutout rotary tool. This part is the button underneath where your thump presses to turn the tool on. I received the tool like it is and there is something wrong with the button, it's like there is supposed to be a part that slides up and down against the contactors. It was soldered on to the green board and I would like to replace it with the same part. The only identifying mark on the part says "129KBD" if that helps. The new one has to be able to be soldered back on like this original part.

Anyways I can't find that electrical button component anywhere. Assistance would be greatly appreciated!

Dremel 4250

The motor fails to start sometimes, making the typical buzzing noise, and when it starts (it does if I rotate the armature by hand) it runs slowly, with noise and the field heats up very quickly.

I’ve checked the wirings of both the armature and field and seem to be OK. The bearings move smoothly with no noise at all. The bushes are almost new. So I’m lost as to what can be failing. Any ideas?

Dremel 4000: Dremel 4000 quit working

Hi my Dremel 4000 which really didn't have much use on it just quit working. After researching it several you tube video's suggested the one of the winding wires on the coil broke at the crimp spot so it seemed like a simple repair. Upon close inspection I couldn't see a broken wire and did a continuity test on the windings and they seem to be okay. I have a new switch assembly coming so hopefully that will do the trick. I guess my questions would be am I on the right track? Does anyone have experience with Dremel problems? My last older model Dremel just up and quit after again really not much usage but I didn't bother to research it so maybe the broken coil wire trick might have fixed it. Thank you.

Dremel 4000: Dremel4000 loud and excessive vibrations above 2500rpm

Got it used and clogged with what I assume was drywall caulk. I took it apart and detailed it. but now after reassembly I get severe and excessive vibration in the unit and can’t even use it above same level 5/10 and that is really uncomfortable. The bearings are good as they don’t appear to have any wobble or grinding when in my hand. this is only happening at higher speeds as well. I was thinking about adding tape around the back rubber bushing but does anyone have recommendations for the front? Should I remove the bearing seal and put a couple drops of gun oil in each bearing?

Dremel 4000: Dremel 4000 Speed control replacement

Hi, I used my 220V Dremel 4000 in the US with any problems for years using a power voltage converter (110V to 220V). A few days ago the speed Dremel started being “weird” I mean it wasn’t consistent with the selected speed. Then a small pop and stopped working. I think the problem is the speed control but here in the US I can only find the 110V version of the speed control. If I use it as replacement will the tool work? Should I attach it to the 110V outlet then?

Dremel lite 7760: Replacing the micro-usb port for charging

Someone used my dremel and upon attempting to plug it in they managed to completely break the charging port, pushing it into the dremel entirely.

I resoldered it where I'm 98% sure it needs to go but I'm not certain the backside is correct to.

Are there supposed to be pin-like pieces on the back that touch other contacts?

A diagram or any info would be greatly appreciated :)

Dremel 4000: Why is my Dremel losing power and eventually dying?

I've had my Dremel for 4 years so maybe it's just wear and tear. But when I use it, it sounds like it starts to lose power, almost like I'm turning it on and off really fast and lowering the power intensity, live revving the engine of a car. Eventually it just dies. There's also small sparks that can be seen inside the motor.

If I leave it alone for a while, it works again just fine for a couple of minutes but then it does it again. Is this fixable? Obviously I don't want to use it anymore but I also want to know if I can fix it before buying another one or if buying a new one is more affordable. Thanks in advance.
