Everything worked fine till i reassembled and went to testing. I wasn't able to turn the switch on. After using the charging cable is started itself. Now i figured out that the volume and power button don't work at all. The whole board itself seems to work as all the buttons including the joystick are working. What could it be?

I used the "Change Left joystick" guide on here.

As i assume it could be the power button board itself i ordered a new one and the connection cable between the boards. I just hope I get it back to work as i don't want to replace a whole switch.

I have 2 switch lites that I purchased off ebay knowing they were broken, to refurbish. The first one I fixed no problem, just needed new sticks, so I decided to keep it as my personal switch. I was able to play on it for about a month, had zero issues with it.

Then the 2nd switch lite came along, when I opened it up, there's some minor water damage, indicators are red, a couple scorched pins here and there, so in an effort to see if there was anything seriously damaged on the motherboard, I swapped that one for the board in my switch.

I didn't have much luck, so I returned the motherboards to their homes, but now, my switch doesn't power on. It pulls 1.30 amps, the charge port is solid, all the connections are good but still no life out of it. I suspect the WD motherboard might have fried the LCD but is there anything I can look for or do to diagnose further and see if it's board level damage?

This problem may have begun with a bent pin, but at some point I must have knocked it loose because there definitely is one missing. See photo below:

I began getting the error with the stock card reader on this Nintendo Switch Lite:

The game card could not be read.

Please remove and reinsert it.

1) Oddly enough, the Rayman Legends cartridge still works, just fine. But it is the only game cartridge that does.
2) None of the other cartridges work on this Switch Lite.

3) All other cartridges work on other Switch Lites and our Docked Switch.

4) Downloaded games still work.

So I ordered a replacement card reader and just installed it. No change. The issue persisted.

But I noticed during the processes that the original card reader ribbon was notched by some sort of pressure from the mount. I've included a picture.

I installed the new card reader, connected the ribbon, and then took it back out. There's a slight impression, hardly noticeable in the new one.

I used a magnifying glass to observe the port, there is no obvious damage or debris, though there is a gap in one of the nodes (picture included) but I am not learned enough to know if that is a defect or abnormality to begin with.

I'm curious if anyone has replicated this issue or heard of what might be the problem on the Switch side. I doubt the brand new card reader would have the same problem (bought it straight from ifixit).

1. Is not detected on the Buttons Test.
2. I tried cleaning it with isopropyl alcohol.
3. The push button is clicking, normally.
4. Every other button including the joystick, is working. But could it be the ribbon cable connecting the daughter board?

I have no idea what else to do.

I knocked off the teeny tiny component next to it, then lost it trying to clean it off because it’s teeny tiny

Does anyone know what it’s called and if I can get a replacement one?

Also will the switch work at all without it? I genuinely have no idea what the part is

Tried dismantling it and reseating the screen zif, but still no luck.

Bought replacement screen and did a clean swap following the iFixit guide, but issue persists (everything is still working except for dead screen, so i don’t think i screwed anything up)

Does anyone know if i have to buy a specific type of replacement screen, or is there anything else i could try?

I recently received a switch lite that supposedly didn't boot.

Everything seems fine, no software update required, the buttons are okay, the touchscreen is responsive.

The switch seems to be charging correctly, I don't see the "Charging icon" going in and out.

Apparently, the console can go into sleep mode at random while playing.

It also wakes up after a few seconds each time it gets into sleep mode.

The battery seems fine too: Good size, depletes at a normal rate.

The USB-C port doesn't seem damaged.

The motherboard is clean.

I have tried removing and reinserting the battery / power naps, but it didn't change anything.

Do you have any idea about what could cause this problem ?

I have a multimeter, but don't quite know how to use it.

I can also solder if needed.

hours pass and I test the power/volume board (it’s perfectly fine) but now I notice that it stays on the switch logo AGAIN until I plug it in. maybe I need to reflow it more?

My biggest fear right now is that I removed a capacitor by accident with my heat gun.
