I over-charged her across a few months and needed to replace the battery because of it expanding. However, now she seems a bit slower/fried, game cards not loading in sometimes, boot-up taking several seconds etc.

I've recently seen videos with replacing the charger port with usb-c, replacing the bottom screen for a glass one etc.

I basically want to know what things i should look into replacing and upgrading to help her run more smoothly and last longer!

I'm happy to answer further questions and resources for further reading on 3DS modding is appreciated as I'm also unsure of what I should be searching for.

I was driving in a car playing my charged 3DS and then I closed it and set it down. When I came back to it, the screen was black, so I powered it off. It would not power on after I powered it off so I came home and plugged it in. I tried powering it on, and the blue light, the charging light, the 3D Slider light and the Wifi light were all on, but the screen was black. I tried unplugging it, taking out the battery, taking out the SD card and turning it on and off but none of those worked. I checked for water damage, by listening to see if there was a popping noise.

Finally after repeatedly pressing the power button, it went to the screen that comes up when you press the power button once (Not hold down) while the system is in use, where it prompts you to either power off or to return to home menu. From there, it was able to return to home menu, where it was stuck on the loading screen for home menu. (The one where it says Home Menu and has a white backround.) The sound plays when you press the home button, but it stays there forever, I've left it on that point forever and nothing changes. The result says the same whether I do it with or without the SD card. I can turn 3D mode on and have it work while on that screen and the power off screen.

I've been mostly careful with my device, dropped a few times, but I have a wrist strap that has prevented most falls. No water damage has ever happened. A X and Y buttons slightly cracked from excessive SSB4.

I am wondering if this is either something wrong with the 3DS software or if it is some kind of damage to the actual circuitry. Thanks in advance to all who help.

Edit I: 2 Minutes after posting this, I found something that seems to have worked.

That if you hold <L> <R> <Up> (Not sure if it was D-Pad Up or Circle Pad Up so I did both) and <A> it could solve it. So I tried this and it is currently system updating.

Edit II: An Error Occurs while Updating? Can someone help me with this?

Edit III: 3DS was updated to latest version, but now I am back where I started ;-;

The one in this question does not charge, but it will power on if the battery has charge.

When plugged into the charger, the battery terminals measure bit under 4V, however the charging light does not turn on (battery or no battery).

When I first tried charging it, the battery went from 2.43V to 3.10V but would not go any higher. During this whole time the charging LED was off. I put the battery in another 3DS, charged it and placed it back and it powered on.

If I try to plug the 3DS in, and then remove the battery, it does not stay on.

Anything I could try to repair this board?

When I closed it back up, the Start button stopped working later that day, but the Home and Select buttons are still working.

The console turns on and before the home menu pops up, it suddenly turns off with a "pop". It is likely a broken ribbon cable, which should be a relatively easy fix, but I can't even open the console because of the screws. I tried using hot glue, a small rubber band and none of that seem to work.

I truly don't know how to proceed. I don't wanna end up damaging the motherboard or any other component.

and i could only unscrew 5 screws the other 4 screws were stripped because i put too much power on the other screws so that they were stripped. So does anyone have a solution how do i unscrewed those little stripped screws on my 3DS?

I've been trying to repair my old 3DS, and for the most part this has gone smoothly with minimal issues. The only problem I'm facing immediately is that I'll need to do some soldering to re-affix the charging port. I have zero experience with this and need a hand identifying what steps I should take with my console.

I've tried to get some up-close photos of it, and I can see a little bit of green/yellow missing from the outer soldered point. They appear black up close, and with some further inspection also seemed to have a residue of something, very thin and eggshell-like.

I'm looking at all sorts of guides to try and figure out what to do, but I've yet to come across any that have damage even remotely similar to that on mine. The port itself doesn't look damaged, thankfully, I'm just struggling to tell where to start on fixing it.

How do I reattach a ZIF latch with this odd port? Do I have to take the ports off and solder new ones on? I want to get my 3DS up and running again.

Also, while not a big deal, the green "3D" LED no longer lights up after I opened up the 3DS. The 3D slider hasn't worked for years and the 3D is stuck on, but I don't want to risk fixing this if it requires heating and prying off the upper display front panel.

Current state:

• charging LED lights up with USB C connected
• power LED not reacting to the Power button
• new battery

As the battery is also new, I can rule that out. Any fuses I should check?

The system turns on and loads to the main home screen. The top screen animation runs, I can turn the wifi on and off, the game reader reads games, the system charges, if I hold the power button to get to the power down screen, I can press the home button to get back to the home menu, and I can enter the update/safemode screen when holding L+R+A+d-pad up (Edit: was d-pad down, I meant d-pad up). I cannot enter into touch screen calibration, touch input doesn't work. On very rare occasions if I'm holding down d-pad right when powering on the system, the home menu will start scrolling right indefinitely and I'm able to "fight" against it by repeatedly pressing d-pad left and only when in this state I can enter into an app if press A at the right moment (which is how I know the cameras work), but the touch screen still wont work.⏎

Otherwise though, the joystick, touch screen, ABXY, sound, and 3d slider do not work at all.⏎

I've already tried cleaning under and changing out the digitizer, as well as the bezel, and cleaning under the button pad stickers. I've also tried systematically disconnecting one component at a time and testing to see if anything changes or works. Unfortunately, though, none of this has seemed to work. ⏎

The scrolling right only happens when I have the system taken apart, but it isn't consistent with any specific component being disconnected.⏎

The battery does have a slight curvature to it, but I'm not sure if that would cause these issues. ⏎

I cleaned it up using a toothbrush and 99% IPA.

Even after the clean, it produced the same results of claiming to be charging but never actually turning on or showing the blue LED.

I checked for shorts, couldn't find any. I also check F1 and F2 fuses which both showed to be fine.

I know there was a lot of corrosion but I just don't know what the problem could be. If you have any advice, please let me know
