Mazda 323: Why is air in my clutch hydraulic system

Clutch pedal on my 2003 mazda 323 suddenly failed - went to floor and stayed there so impossible to change gears. Checked for leaks in lines and master and slave cylinders - all seemed ok but replaced both cylinders with after market new ones. Bled system from slave cylinder but could only get pedal to engage clutch fork 1/2 its travel. More bleeding had no effect - reached a point where no air or fluid were exiting the bleeder valve.Tried bleeding directly from master cylinder connection to hard line, with slightly more fork movement (gear changes with difficulty). Then tried gravity bleeding which completely failed with pedal again staying on floor - could be because a section of the hard line was higher than the fluid exits from both the master cylinder and fluid reservoir. What could be the problem - seems like trapped air somewhere?

Mazda 323: clutch master cylinder trapped air

just finished trying to bleed the clutch master cylinder by loosening the hard line fitting, depressing the pedal then tightening the hard line. Did this procedure 5 times until fluid was dripping from the hard line connection then tried to bleed the system using a tube(in a glass jar) from the slave cylinder. At first some air and fluid came out of the tube, then nothing. Depressed the pedal at least 4 more times and still no fluid escaping into the jar (holding pedal down, opening bleeder valve, closing it then repeating this). Seems like air still in system! What else can I try?
