De'Longhi EC155: Possible reasons for the machine to trip on earth leakage?

I've had the similar EC153b for a decade or so, and its finally showing its age! However I would like to see if there's anything that can be done for it.

I am in UK and so the plug has the third earth pin.

The machine causes my RCD to trip due to earth leakage current when I turn it to heat the water. I read that with coffee machines this can be due to failed insulation on the boiler element, so I was going to take it apart and take a look.

Is there anything else I could profitably check whilst its all open? I notice that the terminals on the top of the boiler aren't fully protected. In fact from past experience opening the machine I think the terminals in mine don't even have those nice connectors like in the pictures.

I also read that blockage could be causing overheating. Would that be in the filter?

Would the fix for the element just be to buy a new one, or can something feasibly be done in a home workshop?

Thanks for reading!

De'Longhi EC155: Why is there little to no water coming out of the boiler?

First off, I have the ECO310 (sorry this model doesn’t seem to be listed among the appliances, but seems like it’s a similar deal and I hope I can get some help).

My machine is turning on just fine, but it only releases very little (just dripping) water through the boiler outlet, even without the portafilter or any filter attached. Oftentimes on an immediate second attempt, no water comes out anymore. The steaming wand, however, is perfectly fine and with really good pressure, so I’m sure the pump is not broken. I’ve done all the troubleshooting I know: (1) water tank is full; (2) already descaled through the steaming wand; (3) already cleaned the boiler filter and the spring-and-ball inside. I also attempted descaling through the boiler, but no water comes out even after 10-15 minutes with the pump on.

I would get coffee from the machine after a few minutes of no usage, but it drips really, really slowly unlike what I observed in YouTube videos. And I’m not even sure if it’s espresso I’m getting from then. I took a video of it in action for you to better understand what I mean: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ac6KFbmnCGpvzJ...

EDIT: I already figured it out. The spring inside the boiler outlet is a bit too stretched, thus creating an overly tight seal that prevents good flow of hot water. I compressed the spring a little and loosened the flatheat piece, and now it’s working fine.

De'Longhi EC155: Why is my espresso weak AFTER thorough descaling?

My actual model is DeLonghi Bar 41 pump driven espresso/capuccino machine, but could not find this model as a menu option. I recently did a thorough descaling and cleaned the boiler outlet as described in the manual. For descaling, I ran about a half cup of solution through the macjine, paused about 15 min, then repeated about 5 times before running the remaining solution through the machine. After doing this, the espresso is coming out very quickly, tastes weak, and has little or no crema. I'm using the same coffee, same amount, tamping exactly the same way. Is it possible my descaling damaged the machine? Any ideas about what to do next?

DeLonghi Dedica EC680: Pump sounds but no water from portal filter

We have a 9-year-old EC680 and suddenly the portal filter is not fed. At 06:00 I took a shot, at 13:00 only the pump sounded but no water appeared at the portal filter. After some seconds the pump turned off, because no water was flowing. No strange LEDs. Sadly I did no further tests.

This night I disassembled the machine until I could slide the inner parts out, powered -> only pump sounds, disconnected the flowmeter, powered -> suction on the pipe! I've opened the flowmeter, it's clean. Reconnected flowmeter, suction. Because there was no longer any fault I assembled the machine, powered -> no water. Then I switched to steam and this worked (unfortunately I didn't try this before disassembling). And afterwards even the portal filter got water.

So ... even in case the EC680 will brew next morning ... what was the fault / which parts should I replace when I get the fault again? I've seen the disassembling video and perhaps that small ball got stuck in the housing? The higher pressure of the steam setting got it loose? Any other idea?

Best regards, Vitus

DeLonghi Dedica EC680: Steam and water only drip out for a few seconds, loud pulsing sound

Hi all,

I've recently picked up my dedica EC680 and it's making great coffee, but anything relating to steam or water doesn't work properly.

Espresso works great but whenever I turn the tap all the way to the steam\water mode, instead of hot water running from the tap, water drips until full stop after a few seconds. After the water stops, some steam comes out, and then the buttons start to flicker 3 times.

There are some pulses that seem to come from the white valve (I've attached a video) and it seems like something is stuck. Steam doesn't last more than a few seconds either. ⏎
If I turn the tap not all the way, and then press one of the espresso buttons, then water flows more freely, although only for the duration of an espresso shot.

I've tried descaling, and it was a nightmare. Basically the descaling plan got stuck just like normal water flow, and I had to manually pull and pour the descaling solution by pressing the buttons and pulling the lever over the course of a few hours, and that didn't help.

I've opened to top part to see how the silicone pipes look and they're as clean as a whistle, not a drop of scaling.

Anyway, I'd love to repair it but I don't know where to start. The screws on the bottom are of an unknown shape, and I don't want to do any more damage, but repairing it is gonna cost a lot...

I'd appreciate any help, thanks !
