Every time I take a picture, the flash goes if the setting is on, the clicking noise of capture happens, and I can hear the motor trying to push the film out, but it doesn’t. What could be causing this problem? What is broken? How do I fix it?

Lomography won’t repair this for me because my uncle bought it for me as a gift on Amazon

Hello everyone of ifixit! I have a Sony handycam hdr-cx580v and just as I was about to use it from purchasing from eBay, the whole screen had turn pink and the "bug"/internal memory icon keeps moving back and forth unable to read its own data it seems, the thing was shipped out via USPS so I wouldn't be surprised they banged it around (and the seller had poor packaging as it came with its original box) thought I have tried mostly everything from resetting it to removing the battery and leaving it alone for a good 10mins. The menu and settings stuff still works, but when I go to try to repair/format it's internal memory it doesn't allow me too. I did do a lot of research and it seems like it could be a worn ribbon cable from the screen to the motherboard to the Sensor

Hi everyone,

I recently purchased a Pentax LX from Japan and had already spent a considerable amount to fix the stuck mirror issue. However, upon receiving the camera, I discovered another problem: the light meter won't shut off. This is quite frustrating, as I have to remove the battery every time I'm not using the camera.

After some research, I found that this issue is quite common with the Pentax LX and that many repair technicians consider it unfixable due to the problem usually residing within the circuitry or main board.

Therefore, I came up with an idea: since the positive and negative terminals of the LX battery compartment are located within the camera body, and the battery door only serves to cover the battery, I was wondering if it would be possible to 3D print a battery door with a built-in switch. As shown in my rough sketch， pressing the button would push the battery up to contact the internal terminals, thus powering the camera. When not in use, pressing the button again would lower the battery, disconnecting it from the terminals.

My main challenges are that I lack experience in 3D modeling and cannot accurately measure the thread depth and diameter of the LX battery door. I believe the design of the switch's spring mechanism can be handled by professionals.

Therefore, I would greatly appreciate any suggestions or advice from the community. Has anyone attempted something similar or have any insights on how to proceed? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi!

I am trying to revive an old Sony CCD-TR425E PAL camcorder, but it does not fully work.

The side-display works, but shows only battery readings / charging.
Able to charge the battery.
Able to eject the cassette compartment.
Able to perform aforementioned functions without the battery when connected to the power cord.
Able to perform aforementioned functions using the battery when not connected to the power cord.

So it has some semblance of life, but not enough to be operational.

Cannot record / play a cassette.
Does not make any mechanical noises of attempting to play a cassette after insertion / attempted playback. (Except for closing the cassette compartment)
No image in the viewfinder display.
The side-display does not show anything except battery readings.
Cannot access menus or settings.
Cannot enter service mode / cannot display service-mode diagnostic codes.

Replaced the coin cell battery.
Replaced the main battery.
The external AC adapter / charger outputs the correct voltage (8.4 V).
The battery is receiving charge (charges to 8.2 V, within spec)
(Failed) Attempted to enter self-diagnostic mode.
(Failed) Attempted to play back / record from a cassette.

How should I continue troubleshooting this?

When reading on Reddit, some folks mention for similar models that it is common for a fuse to fail (without mentioning specifics). Looking at a similar question here on iFixit I found this QnA also mentioning a fuse.

So I found the service manual and schematics, looking at the power board (board DD-117, page section 4-109 to 4-112E, p. 84 in pdf reader) I found the following fuses in the schematic:

PS801 (BAT_UNREG)
PS802
PS803 (VTR_UNREG)
PS804
PS805 (may not exist on my model)
PS106
PS107

I can confirm on p. 83 in pdf reader (page section 4-106 to 4-108) with the SMD overview that those are all the fuses on the power board.

Is my next step to disassemble the camcorder and use my multimeter to test all the fuses?
I will also look around for any obvious damaged / burnt components too during disassembly.
Is there anything I should do before I disassemble the camcorder?
Is there anything else I should do when dismantling the camcorder, besides testing the the fuses?

I found my camera which I haven’t used in years. I charged the battery and put it in the camera. When I went to put it on it says set clock and then goes to system zoom error. I removed the card and battery for 10 minutes and replaced them both. The same thing happened.

Hi Everybody, does anyone have a parts list for the EOS 5D Mark IV please?
I need the part numbers for the hot shoe bracket, retaining screws and the spring plate insert.
Although the hot shoe looks identical to that on the 5D MkIII (Canon Part No CB3-4683), I can't find any references confirming compatibility or otherwise.

Nikon Coolpix S3100 Camera: How do I copy photos from camera memory to SD card

I recently found my Nikon Coolpix 16mp S3200 (the closest version I could find on here was the S3100) and I realized I have been taking photos on the camera memory without an SD card. Whenever I insert the card it says that there is no photos on the memory but I cant access the photos on the camera without taking the card back out, how would I go about copying the photos onto the SD card?

Hi! I have a Canon Ixus 185 camera. I haven't used it in a while, and when I turn it on, the lens doesn't capture an image, just a black screen.
